What is the AUPP

An Oceanic non-profit organisation dedicated to the dissemination of vital health and safety information about body piercing.

Scope

The AUPP has a limited sphere of authority: AUPP organised events, AUPP members, workers, volunteers, or other representatives.

What We Can Do

The Australasian United Professional Pierces maintains the right to:

  • Approve or decline new memberships
  • Suspend or expel current members
  • Refuse attendance at AUPP events
  • Approve or decline sponsorships
  • Suspend or terminate sponsorships

What We Can’t Do

Some examples, but not all, of what the AUPP can NOT do include:

  • Prevent an individual from being a piercer
  • Forward reports to the police, or other authorities, on behalf of the complainant
  • Prevent an individual from contacting the complainant
  • Take action
    • in place of the proper authorities, particularly when someone is in imminent danger
    • on secondhand information
    • without the complainant’s permission
    • without investigating and finding supportable facts
    • on solely anonymous reports
  • Publicly discuss allegations, investigation(s), or resulting disciplinary actions

If seeking action beyond or outside of the limitations of the organisation, please consider other resources or legal options that may be available.

How to Report

This form is to report incidents that may be a violation of AUPP policies. If this report falls outside of the AUPP’s jurisdiction, please consider other resources or legal options that may be available.

How Are Decisions Made

Decisions are made by the Board of Directors, along with its legal representation. They are based on the nonprofit’s legal requirements, our constitution, and current policies. There must be a violation of a policy in place, agreed upon by the Member, employee, volunteer, or event attendee. Any decision must be made in impartiality and good faith for all parties involved, in accordance with the AUPP’s constitution and policies, and withstand legal scrutiny.

The reporting process is designed to be fair and just to all people involved, and each person should have an opportunity to present their case and evidence. Please note that if the person who is being reported is a Board Member, while it is not possible for them not be informed of the report, they will have no involvement whatsoever in the decision making process.
